We Are a Settlement Agency

The Northeastern Ontario Multicultural Centre is a non-profit organization serving the settlement needs of newcomers to Canada in the districts of Parry Sound, Nipissing, Temiskaming Shores, and Cochrane. We have offices in North Bay and Timmins, with additional in-person services in Kirkland Lake, Temisakming Shores and Parry Sound.

The North Bay office opened in February 2008. Our Timmins office opened in May 2011.

Our History

The North Bay & District Multicultural Centre evolved from the work of the North Bay Newcomer Network, spearheaded by the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development. It became a reality January 1, 2008 and is a reflection of the changing face of the city. The official opening of the centre was February 22, 2008.

In 2011 we opened a second office in Timmins,
the Timmins & District Multicultural Centre. Between the two offices, some 400 kilometres apart, we serve newcomers from the Parry Sound District in the south to the Cochrane District in the north, including the Districts of Nipissing and Timiskaming.

In January 2025, the name of the Centre changed to the Northeastern Ontario Multicultural Centre, to be more inclusive of the region we proudly serve.

The Northeastern Ontario Multicultural Centre is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg peoples, on lands that are protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850. NBDMC acknowledges and gives thanks to the land on which we live and work, and to the people who have cared for it since time immemorial.
